Q:
How do I obtain access to the private members login area of the site?
A: If you would like to visit the private member site, please send an
email to info@mendedhearts.org
or fill out this brief online
request form. Please include your complete name and chapter number.
You will be emailed the username and password after your membership has
been verified.
Q: I see
your chapter locations listed, but no phone numbers. How do I contact
my local chapter?
A: If there is a specific chapter that you would like to
contact, please email info@mendedhearts.org.
We will send you the name of the contact and phone number for that
chapter.
Q: I
can't find a chapter in my area, but would really like to talk to
someone about my heart condition. Is there another option?
A: Yes. Internet visiting was set up so that people in areas
with no Mended Hearts chapter can still "chat" with someone via email.
The Internet Visiting group is chaired by Jack and Gerry Harrelson. If
you would like to be put in contact with someone by way of email,
please email the Harrelsons at support@mendedhearts.org.
Please include the type of heart condition that you have in order to be
put in contact with someone with a similar condition. If you are a
family member or caregiver, please let our visiting chairs know so that
they can connect you with a visitor who is in a similar situation.
Q: There
is no chapter in my area, but I think there is enough interest to start
one. What do I do?
A: Contact the Mended Hearts Field Services Director, Marcia Baker, at marcia.baker@heart.org. She will send you a chapter starter kit with the information you need.
You should also contact the regional director
for your area.
Q: Do I
have to be a member of a local Mended Hearts chapter?
A: No. Members-at-large are those people who are members of the
national organization without being affiliated with a local chapter.
They pay national dues only. Members-at-large receive a membership card
and pin as do other members as well as a subscription to Heartbeat.
Q: Why
should I join a local chapter?
A: Chapters offer support to their membership through meetings and
speakers that members-at-large do not have. Also, all of our certified
visitors must be a member of a local chapter. Anyone interested in
participating in hospital visits should join a chapter and go through
visitor training.
Q: All I
really want is to subscribe to Heartbeat. How do I?
A: You can easily subscribe to Heartbeat
online or print out the form, fill it out and mail it with payment to
Mended Hearts, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231.
